THE PADIRAC GOUFFRE

Welcome to Padirac, very close to Rocamadour !

After a vertiginous descent, in the center of the earth, at a depth of 103 meters (don't worry, there is an elevator!), Let's go for a 1.5 hour visit.

You embark on a timeless boat ride on the underground river. The river plays hide-and-seek in a labyrinth of cavities in the most bizarre shapes: mushrooms, rock lace ... to the Rainy Lake and its translucent waters . You then discover the Grande Pendeloque , (a giant stalactite 60 meters high), which, as if suspended from a wire, seems to be admired on the surface of the Rainy Lake.

Then you dock and continue on foot towards the Salle du Grand Dôme , the vault of which rises to 94 m high. This offers a multitude of concretions shaped by nature over millions of years. When you come back to the surface of the earth, still imbued with the magic of the place, the light of day makes you wink and brings you back to reality!

THE VALENTRE BRIDGE

This medieval bridge with 3 towers is the pride and fame of Cahors

Remarkable testimony of medieval architecture, the Valentré bridge is classified as a Historic Monument and since 1998 registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of thePaths of Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.

The Pont Valentré in Cahors tells its story through a legend. Indeed, this pedestrian bridge tells whoever wants to venture on its arches, its little story. That of its construction! Designed to serve as a fortress against attacks from the south, it took more than half a century to emerge. It was so long that a legend was born ...

A guided tour of the Pont Valentré, by the Grand Cahors tourist office, will allow you to know the end that has been given to this legend.
A comic book written by Joël Polomski recounts this legend. As for the devil, he is of course engraved in stone, it's up to you to find him!
From April to October, you can also contemplate the Pont Valentré de Cahors from the river during a 1.5 hour cruise around the Cahors loop or on the Lot Valley for a day cruise with meals.

THE GROTTE DU PECH MERLE

Nothing but real and for eternity! Pech Merle is a 1 hour visit to go back 25,000 years. Indeed, unlike the facsimile of Lascaux, the Pech Merle cave is authentic as are its 70 animal and human figures: mammoths, horses, bison, deer heads, hands ...

1 km of gallery, 7 rooms , mineral concretions, prehistoric paintings, engravings, we understand why Pech Merle is considered a high place of cave art in France.

It was two teenagers André David and Henri Dutertre who in 1922 discovered this wonder in the heart of the Célé Valley inCabrerets . But it is only since 1926 that one can visit it.
